Atelier
Guides, not a call centre.
A small studio that designs a handful of journeys properly rather than a catalogue of them adequately.
Atelier is a workshop — the room where a thing is made by the people whose names are on it. We use the word literally. Whoever answers your first email is who designs your journey, and you will have met everyone involved before you land.
The people
Small enough that you know who to call.
Divyam Navin — portrait Divyam Navin
Founder
Designs every Shunyaway journey, and answers the enquiries himself.
Head of Journeys
To be named
Routes, permits, and the order the days are taken in.
Mountain lead
To be named
Altitude, weather and the call to turn back — Himalayan journeys only.
Guest office
To be named
Flights, visas, and the printed card that confirms a booking.
We would rather show you three empty chairs than three names we made up. As the atelier is appointed they appear here — with their faces, where they have travelled, and what they are responsible for on your journey.
How a journey is made
Four conversations, then a card in the post.
One
You tell us roughly what you want
A line about the kind of trip, or a design you have already shaped. Nothing to commit to, and no quote attached to it.
Two
We come back with a shape, not a brochure
Where you would go, in what order, how the days feel, and what it takes to do properly — door to door, flights included, in the cabin you chose.
Three
We take it apart together
The part that matters, and the reason we do it on a call rather than by attachment. Almost every journey changes here.
Four
It is confirmed the old way
A printed invitation, posted to your address. The email arrives the same day; the card is the one you keep.
Registrations and memberships
Start with a conversation.
There is no form to get past before you are allowed to speak to someone.
